Red Dog

The objective of Red Dog is to have the value of the third placed card in between two other cards. For example the two cards face up are a 3 and a 9 then for you to win, you would need the third card to be any number from 4-8 and you would win.

In Red Dog the value of cards are from 2 being the lowest and Ace being the highest. The cards are shuffled each time using one deck of 52 cards (no  jokers)

The game starts with the bet in the circle followed by the deal which is two cards face up which is the players cards. A marker is then placed on the table indicating how big the spread is. A number of scenario’s now follow:

  • If the dealer draws two cards of the same value he automatically draws the third card. For example the two cards face up are J-J. If the third card is drawn that is the same value of the other two cards then a payoff of 11:1 occurs. If the third cards value is different then the hand is a push and the original wager is returned.
  • A consecutive hand can occur with two cards drawn and there values are consecutive. For example 8-9, this would mean the dealer will not draw a third card and the hand is declared a push.
  • The most common hand is when the above two points dont happen and there is no pairing or consecutive cards. The dealer will announce the spread. Once this is announced the player has the option to raise by the original bet. The other option is that the player can stand, where no bet is made but the hand is still active. The player wins if the value falls between the two face up cards. For example if the two face up cards are J and 8 then a winning card would be any 10 or 9.
